Born and raised in the Bronx, I have come to the conclusion that Bronx is New York City’s best secret! Here are a few locations that you may want to visit on a boring day. Addresses are included and websites are included (where available).

1) The Andrew Freedman Home (Arts Hub) – 1125 Grand Concourse near 167th Street (Ballrooms, Billiards, Library)

2) The Bronx Museum of Arts (Museum) – 1040 Grand Concourse near 165th Street – (Crossroads of communities)

3) Bronx Museum Heritage Center (Arts Hub) – Elton Avenue between 162nd and 163rd Street – (inhabiting musical legacies)

4) Bronx Children’s Museum (Museum) – 733 Exterior Street near Major Deegan Expwy – (interactive play, self-expression, imaginations welcome)

5) Bronx Art Space (Art Hubs) – 305 East 140th Street near Third Avenue – (a series of events, visual art, performance)

6) Bronx Documentary Center (Gallery) – 614 Courtlandt Avenue near 151st Street – (thev globe reported in photography, film, new media)

7) Longwood Arts Project – Hostos College 450 Grand Concourse East 149th Stret – (light on world and talent unknown)

8) Dreamyard Project (Education) – 1085 Washington Avenue near East 166th Street – (in school/out of school arts learning)

9) Casita Maria Center (Arts Hub) – 928 Simpson Street – (a mecca of culture, storytelling, cultural trails, concerts)

10) The POINT (Arts Hub) – 940 Garrison Avenue near Manida Street – (incubaator and destination, circus, broadcasting photography)

11) The Galleries at Krasdale Foods (Gallery) – 400 Center Drive – (industrial scape turned art space)

12) El Fogon (Arts Hub) – 989 Home Street – (arts and entertainment, interdisciplinary)

13) Lehman College Art Gallery (Gallery) – 250 Bedford Park Blvd. West – (contemporary works enclosed by architecture)
